Digital Signage is a technology for presenting information from electronic (digital) media (displays, projection systems, etc.) installed in public places. It is mainly used for advertising distribution. Advertising messages distributed through digital signage, as a rule, have the goal of reaching the target audience in the right place for contact and at the right time. Advantages of such electronic messages over traditional static forms of outdoor advertising in a more simple and quick replacement of message content; the dynamic nature of the image itself; adaptability of the message to the environment and the audience, including interactively. The drawback is that it is technically difficult. Digital Signage is characterized by a high return on investment ROI in comparison with printed advertisements.

Digital Signage is used for many different tasks, the most common of which are:

  • Public information - news, weather, local information, such as the location of the fire exit
  • Internal information - intra-propor- tional news, specific information in healthcare facilities
  • Advertising - both specific to the audience at the location of the display, and designed for traditional media
  • Image - in order to improve the status of a store or an enterprise, create the required atmosphere
  • Influence on consumer behavior - attracting the consumer to certain areas, increasing the time spent in the store
  • Expansion of consumer experience - applications that take the consumer's attention while waiting in line, for example, a demonstration of recipes in the grocery store
  • Improvement of the environment - information kiosks and dynamic navigation

An advertising monitor is a device intended for broadcasting advertising video materials in a room, in transport, or on the street using Digital Signage technology. Advertising monitors began to receive distribution in 2004-2009. Places of their location were: supermarkets, saloons of fixed-route taxis and buses, instant payment terminals in large cities.

"Advertising Monitor" is often confused with a simple, computer monitor and TV. However, the advertising monitor has almost no settings like on the TV, there are almost no buttons on it, often there is no control panel in the kit. Advertising monitors are automatically turned on when power is applied, without pressing a button, and start displaying information coming from the media player (ad player). The content is usually placed on removable flash media or in the built-in memory. The content can be overwritten with the built-in memory automatically or manually. There are also models with the ability to update content by downloading data from a remote FTP server via WiFi or 3G.

Such a device can be installed in any public place. With his help, it was possible to quickly and visually convey important information to large numbers of people in a public place. The widest application at the moment advertising monitors found in public transport, which created a new type of advertising. In many cities, advertising agencies specializing in this type of advertising were organized. To use advertising monitors outdoors in the open air professional professional outdoor LCD monitors are used, with the ability to work with a large temperature difference (from -30C to + 40C) in all weather conditions.

Outdoor advertising monitors are designed specifically for use in outdoor restaurants, train stations, gas stations, stations, discotheques and parks, and also as information boards.

To improve the quality of protection, the monitor body is made of steel with the use of a special powder coating, which allows you to maintain a presentable appearance under any external influences. To avoid damage to the expensive matrix of the LCD screen, the installation of tempered glass is provided in street monitors. A hot anti-vandal glass can withstand large shock loads and protect the monitor's front panel from scratches. When connecting street monitors, use special moisture-proof connectors. To ensure the stable functioning of the monitor in all weather conditions, as well as to eliminate the failure of the electronics during a "cold start", the street system is equipped with an automated climate control system that monitors the weather conditions and controls the built-in heating and cooling systems.
